We Value Your Items
Safety and security are must-haves in our policy. We highly
encourage our users both owners and renters to stay aware and read up our rental safety tips.
Before Rental Starts
These are some preparatory steps you can do before renting:
- To the best of your ability, Identify the market value of your item
- Make sure your item is in a good working condition and safe to use
- Take photos or videos of your item showing its state and condition before it’s out for rental. Make sure you get all the angles captured. Photos and videos need to have timestamp as well
- Items such as cameras and electrical appliances or any other similar items need to have a video recording their functionality.
- Make sure to get the handover code from the renter in order to confirm that your are giving it to the right person
After Rental Ends
These are the recommended actions you should take if you find your item is broken after the rental:
- If you notice your item is damaged upon return, get it documented by taking photos or videos. This will be needed for the insurance claim
- You must notify us within 24 hours of receiving the item the end date of the rental if you receive a damaged item
- In the event of item is not being returned after the rental ends, owner must notify RentSmart within 24 hours. 24 hour starts after the rental ends

Overcoming COVID-19
We recognise the huge impact the coronavirus (COVID-19) has caused to your daily lives. We are doing everything we can to ensure the journey of the rental will remain seamless while maintaining the safety & hygiene standards. Take a look at these steps on how we can take precautions amid this pandemic:
- Both Renters and Owners are encouraged to use RentSmart Delivery to handle the pick-up and return of the item. Owners will need the Delivery-partner’s assistance to check the handover code for them before handing in the item to the Renter
- Going out? Make sure your body temperature is normal. Please wear a mask and bring along a hand sanitiser with you.
- Renters can only do self-pickup if the store is within the 10-KM radius from their place, following the latest SOP from the authority
- Owners need to ensure their stores are adhering to the latest SOPs provided by the Health Ministry and safe to be visited
- Renters who choose delivery sevice can tell our Delivery-partner where to drop off your parcel e.g. at the door and show the handover code while keeping a 1-metre distance from one another to minimise physical contact
- Sanitize each item upon receive. Be mindful as some products can be damaged by alcohol, e.g., clothes
